ABOUT US
Extreme Boats is a family owned and operated business that has been producing high quality aluminium boats for over 20 years. From a small shed on a rural property Glenn Shaw combined his engineering skills with a passion for fishing and boating to produce a few Aluminium Boats in what was a market heavily dominated by Fibreglass. From the early stages Glenn could see that Aluminium Boats had a lot to offer. Durability, lighter towing weights and the ability to customise the boats to better suit clients needs were just a few of the many advantages Aluminium Boats held over Fibreglass. This began a journey of innovation and refinement which still continues today. "Every boat is a compromise, and there is no such thing as the perfect boat - but we are always trying to close that gap in search of what we believe are the best Aluminium trailer boats available"

THE "GOOD OLD DAYS"
Friendly reminder of how things were through a clients eyes!
My association with Glenn Shaw and Extreme boats goes back to 2006 when I decided to replace a Fyran 600 Horizon with an Extreme 650 Game King. With 3 boys in the family and all getting bigger by the day I wanted a boat that could go out wider after game fish, but also double as a family boat at the lake enjoying water sports. In those days Extreme operated out of a shed on their dairy farm at Whakatane. To pick up your new boat you had to watch out for either a milk tanker or a herd of dairy cows wandering down the access road when you arrived. That boat fulfilled all my expectations of what I wanted, catching numerous marlin at Waihau Bay and also great to wakeboard and waterski behind at Waikaremoana. In 2010 I also purchase an Extreme 460 to keep at our bach at Waihau Bay for weekend use as easy to launch and retrieve solo and always there for family members to use. In 2015 I replaced the 650 with a new 795 Game King with an enclosed cabin and really appreciated the new design features and the extra size ~ Mark Gemmel
Not only do we build boats - we USE boats! Being keen on fishing and boating ourselves has enabled us to understand what is required in a boat to not only perform and look great - but also be functional on the water. It is by spending time on a product that you get to KNOW a product.
"PROUDLY ALUMINIUM"
Aluminium Boats have come a long way over the past decade or so and today it can be hard to tell the difference in appearance between an Aluminium Boat and Fibreglass boat. High quality finishing and design incorporating curves and athstetically pleasing lines give you the appearance of a Fibreglass boat with the lighter towing weight and cutomisation offered by an Aluminium Boat.
Aluminium is the major component to our business and due to that we choose to use high quality Marine grade Aluminium for all the plate work ensuring a product that lasts.
As well as being lighter to tow, more robust and easier to customise than Fibreglass, Aluminium offers many other benefits when it comes to building boats. Aluminium is the most abundant mineral on earth after oxygen and silicon. Aluminium is also infinitely recyclable which means it can be melted down and reused without loosing its strength and structural integrity and thanks to recycling over 75% of all Aluminium ever made is still in use. This is great for our planet and the environment we love to enjoy.
BUILT TO LAST
We do not only design and build boats that perform and look great - we build them to last and back them with a 5 year hull warranty! Where possible we use Aluminium components such as rod holders, bungs, cleats, hand rails to name a few and we weld them in place ensuring a strong product that will stand the test of time. With all of the Extreme Boats range from the 545 and up we also choose to use a minimum hull plate thickness of 5mm with 6 and 8mm upgrades available, and use 4mm plate everywhere else.
At Extreme Boats we carry out all aspects of the build from the design, cutting and folding of the material, fabrication, painting, upholstery and fit out. This means we are in control of our product the whole way through and can ensure things are done correctly and to the highest of standards. This can give the customer peace of mind that when there investment drives out of our gate - it is a solid one!
